Private Standing Event Catering in Malta: When Food Meets Art

A behind-the-scenes look at how Chef Ritianne Bondin catered a stunning art exhibition in Malta.

Last Thursday, we had the pleasure of being part of something truly special. Chef Ritianne Bondin Private Catering was invited to provide catering and bar services for a private art exhibition here in Malta, and the evening reminded us exactly why we love what we do.

There is something beautiful about the combination of food and art. Both are creative, both are personal, and both have the power to bring people together in a way that nothing else quite can. Our role for the evening was to create a selection of handmade nibbles and manage the bar service, ensuring that every guest felt looked after from the moment they walked through the door to the very last bite.

What We Served at the Private Standing Event

We designed the menu to complement the evening's atmosphere — elegant, approachable and full of flavour, with something for every guest to enjoy as they moved through the exhibition.

Hot Items: Our hot selection brought warmth and substance to the evening. We served Beef Arancini with Paprika Mayo, golden and crispy on the outside with a rich, tender filling, alongside Wild Mushroom Arancini with Garlic Mayo for our vegetarian guests. Both were made entirely from scratch and served fresh throughout the evening.

Cold Items: The cold selection was designed to be light, elegant and easy to enjoy while moving through the space. Guests were treated to Salted Cod, Pea and Mint Tartlets, delicate and full of flavour, alongside Cold Roast Beef and Branston Croûte, a classic combination with a refined edge.

We also served Brie Sandwiches on white bread with cranberry chutney and rocket, Tuna Bridge Rolls with tomato paste, olives and pickled veggies, and Parma Sandwiches on mini focaccia with parma ham, rocket, parmesan shaving and mustard.

Sweet Treats: No event is complete without something sweet. To finish, we served Mini Cupcakes in lemon and red velvet, light and indulgent in equal measure, alongside a fresh and vibrant Fruit Salad to cleanse the palate.

Bar Service: Alongside the food, we managed the full bar service for the evening, ensuring guests were well looked after with drinks throughout the exhibition. A smooth and attentive bar service is just as important as the food, and we pride ourselves on delivering both with the same level of care and professionalism.

Why Standing Events Work So Well

Standing catering events are one of our favourite formats to work with. They encourage movement, conversation and connection in a way that seated dining simply cannot. When the food is designed to be picked up, enjoyed in a bite or two, and savoured while taking in the surroundings, it becomes part of the experience rather than a pause in it. For an art exhibition, it was the perfect fit.
